Welcome to the Future

I woke up one day and I was in the future. A future of instant access to distant horizons. A future where everyone is connected to everyone else, a "global community" coming closer and closer to becoming just what the term promises: a community that faces no borders, a truly unqualified community of one.

This is a future of hopes and dreams and power unimaginable to those who came just twenty years before us. This is a future where anything is within grasp to anyone who wants it. The only question left is the big one, the obvious one, the one that's been with us from the dawn of time and will be there at the very end:

Where are we going next?

Let's face it: we're living in times both awesome and terrifying. It's hard to keep up in a world that is in a state of flux, a world where rapid change is the only true constant. I hope to try to make sense of where we're headed. I hope to spark some debate and share insights with those as passionate as I am about that big question. I hope that I contribute something of worth. And I hope that you come along for the ride.

The future is now...right now. Grab a beer and plop down on the couch next to me. Make yourself at home. You and I, we are about to see a whole hell of a lot. Everything that has ever happened has led up to this: this day, this hour, this point, this moment...this very second. Living in the future is a privilege and it is a duty.

We have places to be. We have sights to see. We have work to do.

Are you smiling yet? Are you stoked? Are you all in?

Are you ready?

It's time to rock and roll.

Where are we going next? I have no idea. But I can't wait to get there.
